The Racing21 competition team was founded in 2015 by mathematician Karel Janeček and rallye driver Vojtěch Štajf.
The new season of the ACCR Racing21 team will be marked by competitions in the FIA European Historic Rally Championship. However, the sporting programme will also be enriched by participation in selected domestic rallysprints with a Rally2 class car, representation at the FIA Motorsport Games and starts at traditional free races.
For the ACCR Racing21 team, the new competitive season will begin with the start of the 32nd Historic Vltava Rally, the second event of the 2024 FIA European Historic Rally Championship series, which will take place on April 19th- 20 th in the south-west of the Czech Republic. The crew of Vojtěch Štajf and Veronika Havelková will be in Klatovy with the historic Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165 and together they are aiming for a podium finish in the European championship this year in the overall classification, which will be announced for the first time across all periods. During the winter break, the Toyota Celica underwent further modifications in the Racing21 workshops in order to achieve the required performance as well as the highest possible reliability. "Starting this season in Klatovy is basically symbolic for us. Last year, Vladimir Zelinka and I didn't do very well here, and due to technical problems with the fuel supply to the engine, we finished the competition only in the Super Rally classification. That's why I'm looking forward to Klatovy. I want to make up for last year's result and successfully enter this year's European Historic Rally Championship with Veronika, says Vojtěch Štajf, driver and manager of the Racing21 team: "In general, I have to say that the preparation of the Toyota itself is a really big challenge for us, because if we want to fight for the top positions in Europe, which is our goal with Veronika, we have to have new original parts in the car and they are very difficult to find. We have also been waiting for some of them for a long time, which is why we decided to skip the first European event in Spain. But I believe we are now well prepared for the season and will build on our success in 2021, when we won FIA European Historic Rally Championship in Class 2 with our Opel Kadett."
Despite the clear focus of the ACCR Racing21 team this year on a quality result in the European Historic Drivers' Championship, fans of domestic motor racing will also see the start of the Vojtěch Štajf and František Rajnoha crew with a contemporary competition car in selected one-day events. "Frantisek and I take our symbolic start this year with a modern competition car of the Rally2 class rather as a diversification of the season and a reminder of our victory in the Cup 2+ last year. We are thinking about starting in the summer competitions, namely in Pilsen, where we would defend last year's overall victory together, and then in Pribram. There we would like to break the curse of third places in the last few years. However, the choice of the car is still under negotiation," explains the Prague driver his future plans.
After two years, Vojtěch Štajf will also take part in the third edition of the FIA Motorsport Games as captain of the Czech Republic's national team. This year, the sporting competition in a record 26 motorsport disciplines will take place at the end of October in Valencia, Spain. "The largest number of new categories in the FIA Motorsport Games has been created for this year's edition in the field of Rally. The Rally2, Rally4 and Historic Rally classes will compete separately on tarmac or gravel, or both surfaces. As the Historics here cannot use quads from the last period up to 1990, regarding our choice of car it looks like the successful Opel Ascona A or our once championship winning Kadett, we have chassis for both types of surfaces available on the Opel. We will announce the name of my navigator in due course, but I would like to thank the Autoclub of the Czech Republic for their trust again," Vojtěch Štajf adds.
The second crew Jan Bejvl and Jan Hlista will also take part in this year's season. Both are holders of an international licence for 2024 and will therefore represent the ACCR Racing21 team in selected FIA EHRC 2024 events as the second nominated competition crew. Bejvl and Hlista will also enter this season on the 32nd Historic Vltava Rally. For Jan Bejvl, this is also a home event as he is a native of Klatovy. In addition to their category 3, D1 class, the crew will be competing for the newly announced ranking of front-wheel drive cars, as well as cars with engine capacity up to 1600 cc. Their competition car, a Ford Fiesta XR2 Mk1, underwent a thorough overhaul over the winter, receiving a new gearbox, clutch and half-shafts. With its light weight and power output of around 170bhp, it makes for an interesting racing car.
Both Racing21 crews will be collecting points for the team standings under the ACCR Czech historic team banner along with other Czech registered crews. The ACCR Racing21 team will finish the 2024 season in November at the traditional Meet of Champions and Prague Rallysprint events.
